The Ebony is a very small black bakelite caera. In fact , it is probably made from Ebonite, solid rubber derived material obtained by vulcanizing and used primarily for electrical insulation purpose . The invention of ebonite is by about 50 years older than bakelite . It is due to Goodyear. The similarity in appearance makes it often referred to as Bakelite . The chemical reactions being different, the components are also different. Rubbing the ebonite smells of burnt rubber, what I think I detect here .

Small , the unit is really very well made ??. The cast is perfect and smooth surfaces are flawless , including the hidden parts. The metal parts of inserts are very well adjusted The unit is heavy for its size , as the body in the front part seems to have thick walls .

The shutter without cocking  allows instant and time exposure. The selection button is also ebonite .
There are two diaphragms : 11 and 18 .
Its belt, to which is attached by a chain a lens cap , gives the impression of a toy ; nevertheless, it is a functional unit.
It is found in the United States and Japan, imported by GIs serving during the 50s .
